JLR Editors Club

This is a piece of literature produced for Jaguar Land Rover PR and press department. The publication embodies all the core values that JLR stand for and consequently is produced to a very high specification.
The brochure comes in a slipcase/pocket, which together with the 4pp cover is made using Plike Black 330gsm from Cordenons. Size of the brochure is 240x168mm, portrait.  
The slipcase and cover is hot foil blocked in silver foil and the edges are gilded in silver, which does look exquisite.
The 40pp text is printed on our Omnia 120gsm offset litho - and it is printed wall to wall, solid black, CMYK images plus a special silver - all the type is printed in silver.

In line with the quality look and feel of the brochure, the biding is Singer sewing, which is totally characteristic for this brand.

The reproduction on the Omnia is magnificent, the CMYK, the solids and the silver which looks metallic, as you can see from the image below.
Art direction and design of the catalogue is by Imagination. Graphic designer on the project is Amish Shah  (www.work-in-process.eu). This is an exquisitely produced brochure which conveys exactly the right look and feel of luxury. Print is by Identity, based in Paddock Wood.

L'Amateur de Thés

L'Amateur de Thés is a Japanese restaurant and Tea specialists based in Pau, Southern France. The menus and stationery paper is produced on our Offenbach Bible 60gsm.

Here is the description about the project by the design studio Work in Process....

The Visual identity created for the gastronomic restaurant l'Amateur de Thés in Pau, on the occasion of its move to the Halles district. Rectilinear graphics and typography, sequence and rhythm, to represent the chef Yuri Nagaya’s rigour and precision. Simplicity, to reflect her humility and calm. A poetic and modern tone of voice to translate her experimental cuisine between Japanese technique and products from the southwest of France. Our intervention focused on the logo design, a deconstruction of the letter ‘a’ to gradually result in a symbol imitating a Japanese object or architectural element. From there we have worked on a series of symbols, typographic arrangements (using Px Grotesk by Nicolas Eigenheer), menus, communication documents, packaging, website lamateurdethes.fr, signage and pictograms, as well as some interior details.

The literature is blind embossed whilst the logo and the little details are all foiled in black on Offenbach Bible 60gsm.

Work in Process is the studio of Claire Colnot and Amish Shah, who work in between France and London.

The superb foiling and embossing has been produced by Pyrénées Dorure Découpe who are based in Morlaas in France.

Nokia - People Made

This is a job that I've been meaning to write about for a while. It is the show catalogue for an exhibition at the Design Museum called 'People Made' - Nokia products that changed the world, which was in Oct/Nov 2011. The exhibition showed Nokia's approach to design, craft and manufacture, revealing untold stories behind some of the phones that have sold in their million over the last twenty years.   
The layout is simple and allows the images of the phones to work really well. Each phone with a scale picture on each spread (on left hand side). Printed in CMYK throughout, the section divider pages are printed in solids, also out of CMYK, - note the excellent blue solid above.
 
Size is 330x235mm, portrait. There's no binding or what is often described as "loose bound". It is a 40pp self cover on our lovely Marazion Ultra 90gsm. The deliberately lightweight feel allows the pages to flow freely and to sit flat, allowing for perfect read-overs. The material is perfectly chosen with the Marazion Ultra having a lightweight, matt look and feel but with the images reproducing beautifully with great clarity and detail. It's a very engaging piece of literature. Every time I show this to someone, they always point out their favourite phone ...it happens every time!
 
The catalogue was designed and published by Nokia. Art direction and design of the catalogue is by Amish Shah (www.work-in-process.eu). This is a beautifully simple catalogue which perfectly shows the phones and conveys exactly the right look and feel which engages the reader with the exhibits themselves. Print is by Pureprint.
